Care Advantage Expands Scope with Acquisition of Youngs Healthcare
Richmond, VA – August 16, 2022 – Care Advantage, Inc.(“Care Advantage”), one of the largest privately owned home health companies in the Mid-Atlantic, completed the acquisition of Youngs Healthcare earlier today.
Following swiftly behind the company’s most recent purchase of National Home Healthcare in Herndon, Virginia Youngs Healthcare becomes the seventeenth acquisition Care Advantage, Inc. has completed since 2018. It also marks the fifth acquisition since joining forces with Searchlight Capital Partners (“Searchlight”) in 2021.
The addition of Youngs Healthcare underpins the company’s presence and rapid expansion in Northern Virginia, but also its strategic approach of adding additional service offerings to the Care Advantage, Inc. portfolio, such as adult daycare services. Youngs also highlights the company’s diverse cultural background catering to Korean, Chinese and Vietnamese populations in the Northern Virginia footprint. With over 400 caregivers committed to the happiness and wellbeing of their patients and clients, Youngs will continue to grow and add to their extensive service offering.
Tim Hanold, CEO of Care Advantage, said, “I am thrilled to unite Youngs and Care Advantage, Inc. This has been a partnership I have been excited about forming for quite some time and for so a variety of reasons. From our very first conversations, it was evident how passionate the Youngs team was about providing care for others, the enthusiasm for what they do each day was palpable. Add to that their reputation in the community they serve is second to none and they are known for delivering high-quality care for their clients. I look forward to welcoming the Youngs clients and caregivers into our care family.”
Young Shin Lee, Founder of Youngs Home Health and Senior Center, said “I am so happy to share that Youngs care team will be joining Care Advantage group of companies. I know, both personally and professionally, this is an extremely positive change for Youngs, I can’t wait to see my company grow and evolve with Care Advantage’s support and expertise. After working directly with the Care Advantage team for that last few weeks I know our patients and our caregivers are in the very best of hands, and our legacy of delivering excellence in home care will continue.”
Andrew Schwartz, COO of Care Advantage, added “Youngs Home Healthcare and Senior Center and Care Advantage, Inc. are a great fit together. We are really excited about expanding our service offerings into Adult Day Care and adding that scope of care to the client care continuum. Provider-Vendor Hybrid PathWell Acquires Caring Angels Home Health
The home health company PathWell began as a technology company aiming to help other operators with back-end issues. But when COVID-19 hit, it changed direction to become a provider itself, equipped with the capabilities it once exclusively sought to give to others.
PathWell has now grown into a multi-state provider through expansion and acquisitions. And on Wednesday, the company announced it acquired Caring Angels Home Health, a business with a significant presence in both Virginia and West Virginia.
“We have a really solid foundation, and now it’s just about pushing volume through that foundation,” Raman Brar, the CEO and co-founder of PathWell, told Home Health Care News. “It’s a scramble right now to acquire as many quality businesses that are available. But we’re still very selective in terms of what we buy, in terms of the quality of businesses, the patient census and the location.”

Bristol Hospice Acquires Two California Providers
Bristol Hospice has purchased two California providers from the same owner — A Plus Hospice and NorCal Hospice. Financial terms were undisclosed. The deal comes as companies try to complete their transactions before year’s end, due to the potential for capital gains tax hikes in 2022.
Bristol is a large multi-regional player that has grown seven times larger since Webster purchased the company in 2017. The hospice operates more than 45 locations across 13 states, and its EBITDA exceeds $70 million, according to PE Hub.
M&A Advisory Firm Agenda Health represented A-Plus and NorCal in the transaction.
“Territory and growth were probably two big factors for this opportunity. Bristol has been a leading buyer in that section of the country for quite some time,” Agenda Health CEO Al Veach told Hospice News. “That area of the country is their home turf, and so they’re always going to be competitive in that marketplace. This particular opportunity is a very healthy, attractive business and headed in the right direction, to say the least.”

St. Croix Hospice Purchases Three Companies from LifeCare Collective
St. Croix Hospice, a portfolio company of the private equity firm H.I.G. Capital, has acquired three Missouri companies from LifeCare Collective — HomeCare of Mid Missouri, Nurses & Company and Transitions Hospice. Financial terms were undisclosed.
The deal adds four locations to St. Croix’s footprint, bringing their total number of Missouri offices to six. Texas-based M&A advisory firm Agenda Health facilitated the transaction.
“This transaction was a really good fit for both. [LifeCare CEO Bobby Robertson] is very strategic. He sets his target for where he can maximize the potential of the business,” Al Veach, founder and CEO of Agenda Health, told Hospice News. “He felt like it was a good time for one of the larger entities to take it and bring it to the next level. We found a great partner that was able to meet that financial requirement and was really interested in Missouri in a big way.”

Having spoken with several agencies before making our decision, the transparency of Agenda stood out. That made it real simple: if we were going to do business, we wanted to do business with a firm of that integrity. They were present at every meeting, and the prep and debrief conversations meant we always knew what to expect. As we got closer to the end of the deal, it was new terrain for me and I didn’t know how to navigate it, but Agenda did a great job helping us work through those difficult talking points. In the end, they came through with everything promised on the front end, and that exceeded expectations.
Initially, the process felt overwhelming since it was my first time selling a business, but Agenda Health helped ease my concerns and answered all my questions. Agenda filled in the gaps where I lacked understanding … in the end, Agenda made a very complicated process feel simple.”
The Agenda Team was patient and went at the pace that we needed to go, which was important for us. They also provided education on the various dynamics of the process, which we greatly appreciated. We were introduced to a variety of buyers, which opened our eyes to various possibilities and gave us a good idea of what we were looking for in an acquirer. We would highly recommend Agenda for the value they bring.”
My overall experience working with Agenda was very positive. The team was professional, supportive, and ultimately delivered a great outcome. The valuation they provided was very insightful and valuable in understanding my company’s position, and I really appreciated the constant communication throughout the process, which kept me informed at every stage. Overall, the guidance, insights, and consistent support were invaluable in reaching a successful outcome, and I’m pleased with the experience.”
Agenda really understands ABA – they understood the differences in my practice and others and had great knowledge of the ABA-specific M&A market. They were able to clearly express our mission and program to potential buyers and understood what made my business different. Everyone was aligned on my goals and worked hard to accomplish them.”
Working with Agenda Health was a first-class experience. As first-time sellers, their clear communication and steady support helped calm our nerves throughout the process. We hadn’t planned to sell until Agenda provided a valuation, but we never felt pressured in this process. After Agenda presented our valuation information and the pros and cons of selling, we felt equipped to make an informed decision and committed to partnering with Agenda to sell our business.”
Agenda Health’s deep understanding of the ABA space and knowledge of the market made all the difference in my transaction. They knew exactly how to position our business and connected us with the right partner quickly. Agenda’s expertise gave us confidence every step of the way, and the outcome exceeded my expectations.”
Agenda gave us peace of mind and ease in selling our business. It’s such a big decision and undertaking, and Agenda takes something that’s probably one of the biggest decisions that a company owner is going to make and makes it easy and smooth. I would highly recommend it to anybody that is in our same kind of situation.”
Initially, the process felt overwhelming since it was my first time selling a business, but Agenda Health helped ease my concerns and answered all my questions. Agenda filled in the gaps where I lacked understanding … in the end, Agenda made a very complicated process feel simple.”
I needed an M&A firm with the connections to assist me with small, targeted home health investment opportunities that I could grow. Not only did Agenda Health deliver on that need, but they also managed the sale of that large agency at its maximized value. This team is able to excel at both large and small levels in M&A.”
Starting as a small hospice owner with a passion to grow, Agenda Health was instrumental in helping us identify acquisition opportunities and managing the process. Once we grew our company to over 600 patients in 7 states, Agenda found a buyer that allowed us to maximize our value and ensure that our family could retire comfortably. With over 10 years of experience working with their team, I can attest to their commitment to building long term relationships.”
Our family-owned, hospice company was only a small part of our $40 million healthcare enterprise, but it was intertwined with our home health business. Agenda Health worked with us to structure that divestiture and find the right partner. I recommend them to owners looking for a trusted and skilled partner.”
